Old Seng Choong is well-loved by the traditionalists, but the historic brand offers fun flavours too. The Assorted Pineapple Tart set offers a trio of flavours (original, truffle and mandarin) so there’s one for every palate out there. I love that they’re individually packaged, so you won’t have to worry about them getting stale when setting them out. They also come in a cube-shaped box that pulls apart to reveal three tiers, one for each flavour.

As for the tarts themselves, the original one tastes just like your beloved classic with a pineapple-shaped biscuity shell baked to a golden brown, and the pineapple jam struck us as more tangy than sweet. If you like more tart than pineapple, you’ll love this because you get more of it in your bite. The mandarin orange version is a tad zestier, featuring a pineapple and mandarin orange jam, and the truffle one is a little more unusual, featuring bak kwa—barbecued pork—pieces. If you’re less adventurous when it comes to your pineapple tarts, I’d suggest going for the box of original tarts.
